AR-SAT Chooses SENCORE MRD3187B as Standard for Satellite Applications

Argentine Satellite Provider Deploying SENCORE’s Receiver Decoder in Country’s Digital TV Efforts

strong> SIOUX FALLS, S.D. Nov. 16, 2010 —SENCORE and its Argentine sales partner, VEC SRL, today announced that AR-SAT (Empresa Argentina de Soluciones Satelitales S.A.), selected the SENCORE MRD3187B receiver decoder for satellite applications across the country. Evaluated along with competing devices in comprehensive testing, the MRD3187B distinguished itself for overall ease of use, signal quality, and robustness and showed superior performance, reliability, and functionality.

AR-SAT currently provides satellite reception for Argentina’s digital TV system and is responsible for delivering ISDB-Tb across the country. AR-SAT is relying on the MRD3187B receiver decoder to provide a key functionality in the video delivery chain at satellite re-transmission sites in numerous Argentine cities including Corrientes, Mendoza, San Juan, San Luis, Cordoba, Salta, and Jujuy.

“Due to the size and scope of the country’s digital TV project, the AR-SAT team encounters a variety of video formats that combine both standard-definition and high-definition signals,” said VEC SRL General Manager Federico Heuser. “The MRD’s ability to perform MPEG-2, MPEG-4, 4:2:0, 4:2:2, SD, and HD decoding — combined with its modular architecture and dual-channel processing capability — make the device an ideal solution for AR-SAT, as well as for satellite and content providers throughout the Latin American region.”

AR-SAT was founded in 2006 to develop the satellite and terrestrial infrastructure for Argentina’s digital TV system and to promote satellite services for public and commercial applications and transmission. Today, AR-SAT delivers satellite bandwidth for voice, data, audio, and video services, and serves major broadcasters as well as business, government, and military organizations throughout Argentina.

“We are pleased that ARSAT will be recommending our MRD receiver decoder to satellite providers across Argentina as they look to provide consistent, high-quality digital video content to viewers,” said Tony Oehlerking, general manager of international business development at SENCORE. “Designed for digital video distribution applications, the versatile MRD promotes interoperation with legacy equipment and can stand up to challenging environments — such as remote sites — that can make satellite reception and transmission difficult.”

The SENCORE MRD3187B receiver decoder sets the standard for performance, functionality, and cost of ownership for any contribution, distribution, or backhaul environment, including SNG use. Advanced features include DVB-Common Interface for conditional access decryption, and multiservice descrambling. In addition, the device supports DVB-S and DVB-S2 demodulation, as well as VCM support, 16-ASPK demodulation, and multiple transport stream selection via an Input Stream Identifier (ISI).
