Sencore Electronics – 53 Years of Innovation

Sencore was started in 1951, in downtown Chicago, Illinois by R.H. ("Herb") Bowden.  Sencore relocated to Sioux Falls, South Dakota in 1971, where the factory headquarters remain today.

The new generation of Sencore Electronics is represented

by co-owners and brothers, Al and Doug Bowden.

Sencore has not only manufactured innovative test equipment,

but they have also supported and trained thousands of

professionals over the past 53 years.

In the early 1960’s, Sencore delivered the innovative “Mighty Mite” line which was a series of portable CRT tube testers that offered electronic technicians the speed, reliability, and operating simplicity not available in any other instrument.  Some unique features of the Mighty Mite were gas/grid emission tests, lower voltage checks, indexed setup cards to reduce “look up” time, and a simplified panel layout.

The “Continental” was a top of the line transconductance tester which tested both foreign and domestic tubes.  The Continental was a revolutionary tube tester in that it offered a regulated power supply, a balanced-bridge amplifier protecting the meter, and a 100Meg leakage test which was by far the most sensitive at the time!

Other “vintage” Sencore test equipment that you may have run across over the years include items such as the VB2 “Vibra-Daptor” tube tester (1967),  TF46 “cricket” transistor/FET checker (1977), YF33 yoke and flyback ringer (1975), and the PA81 Stereo Power Amplifier Analyzer (1988).
