Sioux Falls, SD, December 29, 2004 - Sencore Electronics, Inc. announces a new HDCP test option which can be installed on the VP401 and VP403 VideoPro multimedia video generators. This option allows the VideoPro to test the HDCP operating capabilities of the DVI/HDMI input on HDCP-enabled video displays. |

HDCP (High Bandwidth Digital Content Protection) is a standard developed by Intel, designed to protect digital video and audio signals transmitted over DVI or HDMI connections between two HDCP-enabled devices. To protect copyright holders (movie studios, etc.) from having their digital signal content copied and shared, the HDCP standard provides for the secure, encrypted transmission of digital signals.
The HDCP video generator enhancement provides more efficient testing methods for troubleshooting, installation, and service. VP401/403 owners that take advantage of this upgrade will have the capability to test the DVI input on any display or signal processor for HDP operational compatibility, perform HDCP production key authentication tests, and Hot Plug Detect tests.
The new HDCP option affords quick and accurate validation tests for production QA, as well as excellent operational tests, for product development labs.
Manufacturers using this unit can determine whether their DVI-HDCP inputs are HDCP compliant with the copy-protected digital source material. (If not, they won’t be able to display a copy-protected signal from some sources.) The HDCP option also provides a Hot Plug Detect test. The Hot Plug Detect allows users to disconnect and reconnect a DVI-HDCP source signal, and when working properly, the display should automatically re-lock and show a normal picture.
