Sioux Falls, SD, April 1, 2005 - As the foundation of the Atlas Receiver System, the Atlas MRD3187 is a powerful 1RU chassis which can support up to 2 decoders. With 8 available I\O slots the unit can be configured either as a single 8 slot, or as a two independent 4 slot, completely modular receiver decoders. Completing the Atlas system is the powerful web based client and multi-unit Atlas Management System.

The ability to add interfaces (when and where you need) sets the Atlas MRD3187 apart from older integrated receiver decoders. The modular design allows you to move with technology and eliminates the time and expense associated with replacing or upgrading dedicated function integrated units. Interfaces currently available for the MRD3187 include: RF Inputs, Transport Stream Inputs and Outputs, SD/HD-SDI outputs, NTSC Component and Composite Outputs, Analog/Digital Audio Outputs with more on the way!
The MRD 3187 is capable, with option decoder card, of decoding 4:2:0 MPEG-2 video at MP@HL, MP@ML, MP@LL and SP@ML combinations. Based on the chassis configuration, adding a second decoder card can provide you with a mirrored redundant or completely independent video output, saving you valuable rack space. Configured without a decoder, the MRD3187 is a cost effective demodulator for off-air applications.
More than a modular receiver decoder, the MRD 3187 also provides you with valuable information about the incoming signal and the outgoing video and audio. It allows you to view (on a video overlay) all of the tables present in the stream, video and audio bit rates, aspect ratio, native format of the incoming video, plus other useful information for troubleshooting potential problems.
The Atlas Receiver System and the MRD3197 can be used in a wide variety of applications including: High Definition TV contribution, Cable head-ends, Terrestrial Signal Contribution, Remote Monitoring and Mobile News Gathering for live events.
