Sioux Falls, SD, April 1, 2005 - The DTU-234 RF Probe allows you to demodulate and pass both the MPEG transport stream and RF analysis data right to your PC. When used with the RFXpert analysis software, your laptop becomes a powerful RF analysis tool with RF quality measurements, graphs and logging functions. If MPEG analysis is what you need, the Dektec StreamXpert software can also be used to provide PID details, decoded video and MPEG conformance testing right from your RF source!

As a stand alone device, the DTU-234 is an RF demodulator to USB2 adapter. Since it uses your USB port for both data transfer and power, there are not a lot of cables and connectors to make the connection confusing or cumbersome. In addition the RF Probe’s small form factor makes it perfect to take anywhere in the field. The RF Probe provides you with full tuning capabilities from 50-870 MHz with a dynamic range of -30 dBmV up to +50 dBmV. Used without additional software, the RF Probe is a completely portable MPEG transport stream capture tool.
Based on the signal being demodulated by the RF Probe, the RFXpert software provides you with the average channel power and peak carrier power measurements. In addition, RFXpert also provides you with accurate MER, EVM, margin, and Pre\Post FEC BER measurements for both 8 VSB and QAM64/256 digital signals. The powerful spectral display feature includes the ability to show a single channel, the adjacent channel, or a full spectrum of all channels. For your 8-VSB and QAM channels the RFXpert provides you with constellation and eye diagram displays.
For your convenience, the RFXpert allows you to build up custom channel plans or choose from one of the standard channels plans that include FCC, IRC, HRC, or UHF/VHF. The RFXpert also includes a fast and accurate “Auto Inspect” feature that allows you to set all pass/fail thresholds and run a quick go/no-go test on any number of channels for all, or any, system parameter.
Best of all, the RF Probe and RFXpert allow you to use your own laptop PC as your test device, saving your results to a log file for easy job tracking and convenient file transfers.
